IDR Institute

Wien (Austria) - 04/10/2012 - 06/10/2012

IDRInstutute co-sponsors and designs the theoretical foundations for the III Forum of Intercultural Learning and Exchange (FILE)

Conference construction: In 2012, IDRInstitute continued its work on developing coherent conferencing. Following its model of small, interactive, invitational conferencing on a specific topic, IDRInstitute organized the first of two days of the Forum on Intercultural Learning in Exchange (FILE). This third iteration (FILE III) was held in Vienna and co-sponsored by the Intercultura Foundation, AFS Austria, and the European Foundation for Intercultural Learning (EFIL).

The topic was "The Contribution of Exchange to Intercultural Learning in Educational Institutions." The format followed that of earlier FILE conferences, with the first day devoted to theoretical and research foundations of the topic and the second day devoted to examples of best practice and other practical application.

In support of pushing the boundaries of "good enough" in international exchange, IDRInstitute invited the following people who were able to contribute and participate in the conference:

  • Jerry Bookin-Weiner, Director, Study Abroad, AMIDEAST
  • Jim Ketterer, Country Director Egypt, AMIDEAST
